To Whom It May Concern:

This is a letter of reference for Kenneth Guiles and his auto restoration shop, The Final Finish.  In October of 2003 we purchased a 1964 Corvette from our sister in law who lives in Maine.  Her husband who died of cancer two years earlier had owned the Corvette.  The Corvette had been sitting in a barn for over twenty years and had not been driven since at least 1984.  Rather than have the Corvette leave the family, we purchased it and brought it back to Connecticut with the intention of having it restored and kept as a family heirloom.  We checked on several restoration shops and decided that The Final Finish would be the best choice.  All they do is restorations (no collision work) and they specialize in old Corvettes.

Ken and his shop took the Corvette in the winter of 2004 and immediately started to work on it.  Ken kept us appraised on progress, sent us shop logs of the work completed as well as photographs, and gave helpful suggestions.  Old parts that were still serviceable were saved, cleaned up and put back on the car while other parts were replaced.  The result is a car made up with as much original parts as possible, which is what we wanted.

In a little over a year, The Final Finish took a Corvette that had been sitting unused in a barn for twenty years and turned it into a true classic car that we are proud to own.  The fit and finish is perfect.  The interior is like new.  Everything from the original radio to the dashboard clock works perfectly.  The Corvette runs great.

To top it off, Ken has offered to detail the car in the spring and, if the car ever gets a ding from a rock or pebble, he will take care of the blemish at no charge.

We highly recommend Ken and his shop for any kind of auto restoration work not just for the fine craftsmanship, but for the customer service he provides.

To Whom This May Concern,
I am the owner of a vintage 1968 Dodge Dart 270 which I acquired from and elderly
neighbor who held a special place in my heart. As my neighbor was a poor driver before I bought the vehicle, it had, besides some rust, several parking lot dings, dented bumpers, torn rag top, you name it. However I loved the car and after driving it for many years I finally decided to have the car "fixed". By the time I found someone willing to operate on my car, the vehicle had pieces of missing floor bent lower control arm, dislocated rear spring bracket and a passenger side door that caved in the side when closed too aggressively.

Mr. Guiles assured me that when be was finished building me a new Dart that I would be completely satisfied, and he was right. In approximately one year, Mr. Guiles informed me that the car was finished and ready to be driven. He informed me that my transmission person was tuning up the car and that I can pick it up at his shop. Shortly after speaking with Mr. Guiles, the owner of the transmission shop called, sounding quite upset and begging me to get my car off his property. Not understanding, I immediately went down to find several people at his door and cars parked in his lot with more people getting out and walking over. I thought something happened to the owner and ran over only to see him quite annoyed and telling these people to leave him alone, it’s not for sale and he is too busy to talk. Catching his eye, he quickly called me over and pointed to his right, stating to get my heap out now before something happens. Looking to where he was pointing, I saw this brand new 1968 Dodge Dart 270 parked behind his fence with people holding cameras and taking pictures. I asked, "Is that my car?" Again he said get it out now! Gentlemen, I was speechless. I just stared, dumbfounded I could not move. My car was beautiful. There it sat, polished and shining like it just came off the Dodge assembly line. People came over to me and started asking me if it was for sale and how much. All I could say was my car is not for sale. I asked the shop owner what my bill was and he said to forget it, get my car out NOW! As I pulled out of the lot people just watched and followed the car with their eyes until I was down the road.

When I got on to the highway and drove a few miles I was impressed with how the interior was better than new and had the new car smell. The suspension was tremendous and the handling was the best the sound from the headers was too much to bear any longer, so I pulled into the left lane to "open-her-up". Just as I got started down the road, I found cars behind me catching up and following along beside me, just staring. What a rush!

To say Mr. Guiles did a fine job restoring my car, knowing all the "issues" is not doing him justice. No one who has since seen the car believes this is the same vehicle.  The bodywork is flawless, not a ripple or distortion to be found.  I cannot put into words my satisfaction with the work Mr. Guiles has performed.  To say I'm happy is not even close to how I am feeling.  Whoever decides to have Mr. Guiles fix their car will never be disappointed.  I have no problem recommending someone to Mr. Guiles for any kind of work.

Sincerely,

Mark Hogan

To Whom It May Concern:

I was fortunate to find a person whose plan was prepared for two purposes:  To provide a working document or roadmap for profitable management and operation of "The Final Finish" and to secure financing, inventory, advertising, equipment, website construction, personal and working capital.  "The Final Finish" is a full service parts and supply outlet for the special interest and auto enthusiast located off Route 1 in Branford, CT.

Mr. Ken Guiles restored my 1970 Chevelle SS 454 L56 to its original state.  Excellent job - it looks like it just came off the assembly line.

In the course of eight years of observing Ken's work, not only on my cars but also on other unique vehicles, I have found him to be diligent in the detailing.  This mans is one of the most skilled and talented fabricator and painter I have ever seen.  His attention is totally focused on the task at hand and he is not satisfied until it is up to his standards.

His manner is easy-going yet determined; a perfectionist in his art.  He understands what a customer wants and goes the extra mile to accommodate him.

Ken's total remake of my special, customized '64 Corvette from a model of the actual car turned out to be something awesome.  He actually made the molds for the specific parts of the car because there were no molds to be found.  From start to finish, that car is the only full-size model of the original Corvette in the country that General Motors had made in 1961 of the concept Mako 1 Shark car.  It also looks even better!

The '64 has been in numerous magazines, newspaper articles and shows all over the country for two years.  I have had nothing but exceptionally fine dealings with Ken and would, without hesitation, recommend him for any work on any vehicle.
